5 minimalist tattoos that are really cool

You might already know this story: I was fourteen (!) when I got my first and probably last tattoo ever inked on my body, read here for a moment. My then best friend and I decided it would be super badass to get a small heart tattooed near our groin as a sign of our friendship.

She (we've lost contact by now) has since expanded the permanent sticker she got into a large mother heart with tribals, roses, skulls; you name it. Not my style. My tiny mark of love has always remained a small, thin line and I can't tell you often enough how happy I am with it. Minimalist tattoos are, after all, hotter than hot, you should know.

It's just that I promised myself and my surroundings after this stupid action to never impulsively get something inked on my body again. But because of these charming little tattoos I'm secretly starting to doubt. A little bit, okay.

1. The small map on the ankle. For the real wanderlusts among us. Super cute for those vacation pics on Insta, with your toes in the sand.

2. The mini palm tree. Just read the point above again and because palm trees are simply the coolest ever. Just ask Renske.

3. A very small elegant text of a maximum of three words. The thinner the line, the better; the smaller and more elegant, the prettier. Beautiful on the foot or ankle, but also on the forearm.

4. At Amsterdam Open Air, I recently saw a girl with a very small tattoo on her finger. And really: combined with the festival rings, it just looked super cool.

5. The mini rectangle, pineapple, or swallow behind the ear. Corny or not, I still find it quite beautiful. But no worries, mom, really not. I think...
