AN ODE TO OUR JOB

Without sounding too corny, I am absolutely convinced that this is the coolest job I have ever had. While the door is closed for most people, it is ajar for the press at certain moments. This is why we regularly get to sneak a peek into the special world of glitter and glam.

That little crack is nice. When the door is wide open, life can get a bit boring, a bit Mariah-Carey-I-only-eat-yellow-M&M's-like. No, that crack actually provides balance. It allows you to stand with one Jimmy Choo pump in the world of hysterical parties and cool opportunities and one sneaker in the normal kale world. We cherish that crack because it can lead to you:

– taking über-cool selfies in Antwerp with Doutzen Kroes (hi Simone).

– being made up by the team of Charlotte Tilbury and running around backstage in London (hi Lil).

– being invited for a romantic boat trip during the Fashion Week in Paris with a view of the Eiffel Tower with thousands of lights, a.k.a. guaranteed good instashots (hi Elke).

-  high five with Gigi Hadid in New York. Still jealous of this (hi May).

– going on a press trip to Iceland, from there flying on to Chicago and celebrating your birthday in a super chic five-star hotel (hi myself, nice that you still talk to me!).

These are some of our highlights this year, thanks to that crack. We also had such a moment on Tuesday. Lil, Simone, and I went to the musical The Bodyguard and got to go backstage at the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht to check out all the costumes, wigs, makeup, and bombard the main characters with questions. It was a special evening, and I will definitely tell you much more about it later.

For now, I want to say: crack, thank you. We enjoy having you around. And each other. Because yesterday it was unanimously decided in the editorial office that we will stay on Pilotenstraat until our retirement. Amayzine goes grandma, I’m all for it.

P.S.: Uh, by the way, crack, will you also take good care of us when we are old? Will you also come with fun parties? Denture parties with cheese and advocaat with whipped cream? Press trips to Torremolinos otherwise? We find bingo really lame, you know. Unless there are designer bags to be won. That works too.
