I feel like I just got pregnant or we already had the 20-week ultrasound last week. I couldn't wait to see our little man again, but this was also the most exciting ultrasound: the little one undergoes a full check-up to see if he has no spina bifida, cleft lip, or hole in his heart... Once inside our midwifery practice Femme, I immediately felt calm: there was a super relaxed atmosphere and the midwife made us feel completely at ease. After 40 minutes of clammy hands and constant staring at the ultrasound screen, we were overjoyed: everything looked perfect! Or as the midwife said: ‘Your little one couldn't have scored higher on this test.’ For me, as an extreme overachiever, of course, the best news to receive: his first report card was a ten plus!

A big advantage of having best friends with children is that you can bombard them with questions 24/7. The big downside: they have already selected all the amazing children's websites for you, and every day I receive messages with tips for the cutest baby linens, children's clothing, or other baby items that you want to order ASAP. And when a childhood friend sent me a message last week that her new children's website Pluk & Paloma is online, I went completely crazy: the most beautiful decorations for the nursery, muslin cloths in lovely pastel colors, and a clothing collection that makes you wish the items were available in your size... Now I can finally forward a tip that my mom friends will drool over...

We had barely been back from Marrakech for a week or our next trip was already on the agenda: Berlin Film Festival, here we come! Together with about half of acting Netherlands, we were at the amazing Michelberger Hotel and from moment one, it was a party. What everyone secretly came for was the infamous Henneman Agency party, for which apparently 200 people were on the waiting list. Luckily, we received an invite and could head to ’the biggest party in town’ without stress. What I always find amazing about Berlin are the countless hidden locations where you end up through connections. And so this time we suddenly found ourselves dancing in a gigantic loft where you'd want to live. The only downside: smoking was allowed inside, so after a few hours and what felt like 200 packs later, it was time for this mommy to head back to the hotel. Even my bra smelled like a pack of Marlboro after a night hanging outside...

Since we were at the Berlin Film Festival, we had to and would at least watch one film. I can tell you: for a super emotional evening where you don't have to look completely fabulous afterwards (read: your mascara is more on your chin than on your eyes), ‘Manhattan by the Sea’ is an absolute must-see! And to eat away all those emotions, we indulged in pastries afterwards at ‘House of Small Wonder’, another hidden treasure where you can find the most delicious sandwiches and sweets. To wrap up the weekend perfectly, we of course had to score a little memento from this weekend. Well, little... An hour and a half later, my husband and I were outside on the sidewalk at ‘Kauf Dich Glücklich’ (the name says it all) with two bags full of sale items. Come on, with 75% discount, you're a thief of your own wallet if you let that go?

And to justify all those purchases, I luckily have the chance next week to pass on some items from my closet. On February 20 and 21, I am organizing a huge Fashion Vintage Sale at the Huishoudbeurs. Yes, you heard it right: that big annual event at the RAI that you mostly hear about in the news with all those housewives with huge trolleys looking for even more bargains. But I can let you in on a secret: it's secretly delightful to wander around there for an afternoon! Especially now that there is a huge Fashion Pavilion with countless beautiful brands at special prices. And just for our stand, that visit is worth its weight in gold: you can score gems from the wardrobes of among others Fockeline Ouwerkerk, Marly van der Velden, Halina Reijn, Esmee van Kampen, Gaite Jansen, Halina Reijn, Hadewych Minis, Jennifer Hoffman, Victoria Koblenko, and of course from yours truly. My only big challenge: not coming home with more items than I left behind. Will you help me with that? Fashion Vintage Sale @Huishoudbeurs, RAI Amsterdam, February 20 & 21 from 11-18 hours.
