Amayzine

Just before the birth of Otis, I started living ‘nail polish-free’, which is really a huge challenge for me. You can't make me happier than with perfectly polished nails in a nice shade. Especially on my feet, which I otherwise really don't find appealing to look at. So when that little one was a month and a half old and the sucking on my pinky was pretty much over, I dared to pick up my nail polish obsession again. To Jon's slight annoyance, who is always amazed at how often I'm painting my nails (didn't you just paint them two days ago?!). Tip: the nail polish from Caption works like a kind of gel polish, but without a UV lamp and soaking it off. And they just happen to have a new site with all the delicious new winter colors. The first batch has already been ordered.

I would like to give you a glimpse into the diary of a new mother who thinks she can maintain her old schedule. Six appointments in a day, quickly learning texts in between, doing groceries, and in the evening still managing to attend a fun event. Such a schedule is already quite difficult to complete, let alone with a baby. So the moment I received the invite for the delightful Amayzine l(a)unch in honor of yet another beautiful new magazine (go read it, people!), I emailed without thinking in capslock that I would be there. And then came moment two: I had to arrange a babysitter for Otis, pump to provide extra food, and of course, the lunch coincided with a feeding time. The result: after the main course, I quickly found myself in the pantry of the star restaurant pumping. A literal glimpse into the kitchen of ’mommy versus glamour‘.

Bella Donna’s has been in theaters for almost a week and we are at number 2! I honestly don't understand why everyone wants to watch a terrifying clown that murders people, but hopefully these visitors will soon reconsider and also pay a visit to our hilarious film. Because those are the reactions: ‘Really hilarious, I peed my pants from laughing!’ It's so nice to hear and read all those enthusiastic messages. I think I'm going to sneak into the cinema this weekend to enjoy all the reactions from the audience live. If you don't have plans for the weekend yet: this film guarantees a night of bellyache from laughing.

Everything is nice and well, but now that autumn has started, everyone around me is sniffling. Someone once told me that you hardly get sick while breastfeeding, but unfortunately, that was not the case (thanks to RTL Boulevard, who apparently found this of great news value to discuss on air…). So I spent the whole weekend with my nose over a pot of chamomile tea and the homeopathic industry has once again earned a lot from my stock of oscillococcinum, which according to some is nothing more than sugar granules. Two days later, my husband was sitting next to me on the couch with the same sniffles. But luckily, Otis (knock on wood) has been spared this flu and it is indeed true that your baby receives good antibodies from your breast milk. Hopefully, he will escape this sniffle dance.

The Netherlands has a new department store chain. In recent weeks, you couldn't have missed that Hudson’s Bay will open no less than ten (!) branches in our little frog country. Yesterday, everything was pulled out to celebrate the branch in Amsterdam in grand style, including the stunning Doutzen Kroes who officially opened the department store. And if you think you will only find beautiful clothing and accessories here, you are mistaken: on the top floor, you will find restaurant Nacarat, with a menu that will make you lick your fingers. I did that very extensively, which meant that by the first course of mezzes, I had already eaten way too much. Quickly back to taste the rest of the menu.
