Christmas gifts that may not be received so well

If you're doing a secret Santa, thank god for similar sites where everyone can fill out a wish list. Furthermore, buying gifts can be quite tricky.# Christmas dilemmas. But with some gift ideas, you might want to stay far away, because they could very well be received completely wrong by the recipient. Here they come:

Sports gear or a gym membership

Unless you're someone like Simone who is found in the gym daily, you better not do this. Suppose you give this to someone who hates sports, then this could lead to a very unpleasant situation, because does this mean you think they're too fat? That they need to lose weight? Aiiaiiii, abort mission.

Something you once received from someone else

And then forgetting that you're giving it to the person who once gave it to you. Awkward.

An almost expired voucher

This happened once with our Lil. It may not have been at Christmas, but still annoying: receiving a voucher that would expire in a few days. Clearly someone who forgot to pick something up, came across a voucher that she (in this case) had lying around for ages and thought: yehess, great gift. Not.

Clothing

Well, nothing wrong with it in itself, but this can also become a bit problematic if you show up with a piece of clothing that is three sizes too big. You're right back in the same situation as with all those sports items.

Wrinkle cream

Speaks for itself.

Books like 50 Shades

Or Maestra. Am I the only one who would find this very awkward to receive? Especially from your father-in-law who thought: nice, it's on the bestseller list, let me buy it.

Self-help books

Also falls a bit into the ‘not done’ category. Your intentions to give something like this to someone who might be struggling are of course good, but if they don't ask for help, this might not be received well. Better to go for something thoughtful that they can really use.

Lingerie

Golden rule: lingerie should really only come from your partner.

If you need some gift tips from the rich and famous, then take a good look at this. Looking for something for your boy? Here you go.
