Completely captivated by New Girl

Yes, just now yes

I think I’ve been lying under a rock, because I’ve become obsessed with something that has existed for a long time. In fact, its end is almost in sight. Enter: New Girl. Yes, I don’t know why it took me so damn long to start watching (which was about two weeks ago, when I was looking for something else to watch with a hangover after binge-watching Stranger Things and my roommate had put on New Girl). And now I am head over heels, completely addicted.

Nick Miller

To start with the most important thing: I’m in love with this boy. The somewhat goofy bartender who once wrote a book about zombies, fixes everything that’s broken in a special way (not) and has a mini heart that makes you melt. Usually, I hate it when men wear plaid shirts, but hotdamn, Nick can pull it off. Nick can do anything as far as I’m concerned. In love.

Speaking of Jess Day

Did you know that Zooey Deschanel can secretly sing very well? Once, she recorded a YouTube video with my other future hubby Joseph Gordon-Levitt (they star together in 500 Days of Summer) where they sing, but also check out She & Him; an indie folk duo that she forms with M. Ward. Anyway, nothing to do with New Girl of course, but worthy of a mention. Her character Jess with her quirky personality is also delightful to watch.

Schmidt

I have never encountered such a character in my life. Schmidt is everything that is annoying about a person, yet you love him. He is somewhat comparable to Monica from Friends, especially in the earlier version. And both are crazy about cleaning. His confidence is contagious and somewhere deep down he has a heart of gold. Oh yes, and let’s not forget his wardrobe and love for cardigans. Golden.

The Douchebag Jar

Great for work too.

Winston (and Fergie)

Perhaps the most underrated character of the show, but brilliant he is; from how awkward he is on first dates to his obsession with his cat Fergie. And how he shamelessly sings along to the musical number ‘Defying Gravity’ in the car. He and I could be best friends.

Their house

The loft. Alright, in terms of interior not entirely my taste, but now I dream of living with friends like that. And of course, I want Nick as my roommate. Sigh…

By the way, if you think I don’t do much besides Netflixing every day: that’s true. Should I have maybe applied for a job before this?
