Don't read this if you have festival FOMO

The festivals in Europe that you want to attend at least once in your life

Here's the deal: if you're the music chief at the editorial office (DJ Elkeholic for those in the know), then it's naturally part of your persona to go to as many places as possible to get some inspiration. And the summer months? They're the best for that. At least, you can pick up musical inspiration anywhere, but the festival months are definitely the favorites. With a few already behind us and a few more that I'm really looking forward to, I have a list for you of the festivals in Europe that you definitely want to attend (I certainly do):

Sziget Festival in Budapest

Two years ago, Liesbeth was already here, and the festival in the Hungarian capital is currently already in full swing. Known as one of the largest music festivals on our continent, where every year around 450,000 (!!) visitors can be found. Want to know which artists you'll find there this year? I mention Flume, PJ Harvey, P!nk, Rita Ora, and Major Lazer. Here also a sneak peek of how it went two years ago.

EXIT Festival in Novi Sad

Okay, I'm putting this one on my list for next year right away. Unfortunately, it has already taken place this year, and this festival has been named the best festival in Europe three times now. I mean, if you have The Killers, Liam Gallagher, Hardwell, and Rag’n’Bone Man in your lineup, then that's guaranteed success. The location is also incredibly cool, as the stages are set between crumbling fortress walls that you reach via stone bridges and ancient tunnels. I mean: if you're looking for a combination of an amazing venue and world stars, then you must go here.

Colours of Ostrava in Ostrava

Are you looking for diversity in music? A bit of jazz, rock, pop, folk, and electro? Then make sure you're in the Czech Republic next year – yes, unfortunately, you just missed the 2017 edition. Last July, you could enjoy Norah Jones, alt-J, Jamiroquai (I was just wondering what happened to him), and Michael Kiwanuka.

Rock en Seine in Paris

I'm currently doing a little happy dance because guess who will be here this year. Yes yes, yours truly. At the end of August, you'll find me in the city of love, dancing to The XX, Cypress Hill, The Shins, and Flume, in the park where I just happened to have my high school graduation ceremony ten years ago. You get it: this is going to be nostalgic. If you haven't planned anything for the weekend of August 25 to 27, it's time to look for Thalys tickets, because what could be more fun than catching a party in the French capital?

Lollapalooza in Berlin

You might already know the name, as Lollapalooza has been one of the most popular festivals in America for years, which has also been found in Europe for a few years now. A fan of rock? Then you’ll love this. This year, The Foo Fighters, Mumford & Sons, The XX, Two Door Cinema Club, and London Grammar will be performing at the festival taking place on September 9 and 10.

Outlook Festival in Pula

Dubstep and reggae fans, no worries, there's something fun planned for you too. This time, you'll travel to Pula in Croatia from September 6 to 10 to the abandoned Punta Christo fort that has been transformed into a hippie-like beach vibe with artists like Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Roots Manuva, and Ghostface Killah from the Wu-Tang Clan.

So, now I need to think carefully about what I need to take with me to Lowlands next week.
