London Fashion Week in
a nutshell
Touchdown in Amsterdam. We are back from London and Kiek and Lil are ready to head to Milan to immerse themselves in Italian fashion. Here, here and here You could already read how things went for team Amayzine in London, but it's time for some more fashion updates from the British capital and all the trends we need to follow next year, according to the British.
Burberry
The Burberry classics remain (the check, the trench coat, and the military jacket), but with a makeover. We are going for black, gray, and white shades, and if possible with a touch of blue. Christopher Bailey's collection was inspired by sculptor Henry Moore, resulting in many looks that were asymmetrical, unconventional, and with a lot of volume.
Mary Katrantzou
Mary opted for a combination of fantasy and film noir (a term used for stylish Hollywood crime films). And yes, the Disney film ‘Fantasia’ from 1940 was the common thread throughout the collection, with here and there some shiny gemstones around the models' necks, hourglass fit dresses with fringes of beads, and suits with wide fits around the hips. A fairy tale, in all senses of the word.
Erdem
In this collection, Erdem Moralioglu incorporated his British and Turkish roots. The prints and patterns used were inspired by the Ottoman Empire with embroidered velvet and printed jacquards.
Versus Versace
Sisters Hadid represent! At Versace, it was all about the return of the punk rock era with an almost entirely black collection featuring many leather jackets and skirts with visible underwear with the ‘VERSUS’ logo on it. Bright pink puffer jackets and high slits in skirts and pants. chokers you can still leave in your jewelry box for now, as they will remain in the fashion scene for a while, according to Donatella.
Mulberry
The Mulberry show exuded British culture. From the tartan prints we already knew to ponchos and blouses with long sleeves and silk dresses. And the popular Bayswater remains, but with a slight makeover: a quilted version. The color palette of the show also had a British touch with dark yellow, lavender, dark red, and brown accents, with a pop of color (like purple) here and there in the accessories.
Sophia Webster
If it were up to Sophia, we would all live like Elsa, as the theme of her show was ‘Ice Queens’. Once again, Sophia went all out with her collection presentation, and despite the fact that she is known for the many colors she often uses in her collections, this time she opted for a cleaner look. And of course, always with a wink.
