Goyard

When Doutzen rocks the oldest bag label on her Instagram, your editor is immediately ready to dedicate a lecture to it. Because Goyard is a brand that you might not necessarily need to have, but you should definitely know.

What is it?

A bag brand that is even older than Louis Vuitton. It originally existed under a different name, Martin, and was founded in 1792. The current name comes from Francois Goyard, the man whose descendants still run the company.

How do you recognize it?

The material looks like leather, but is a luxury canvas that falls nicely and smoothly. The pattern is a graphic play of the letter y, a letter that appears in many names of the family and of course in the surname itself.

Who wears it?

Got a moment? Once the queen of Yugoslavia and the queen of Greece, the Grimaldis, Catherine Deneuve, Édith Piaf, and Romy Schneider. Now Doutzen Kroes, Madonna, Victoria Beckham, and Carla Bruni.
