ALL INTRO’S OF NOSTALGIC KIDS SERIES

(Braceface, Totally Spies and the bare buttocks of Shin Chan)

Please tell me I'm not the only one with YouTube afternoons. It usually goes like this. When I finally have a bit of me-time , I usually imagine taking a long bath, painting my toenails, and reading a good book. Maybe going for a run? Meh. Then I really don't know what happens in my head, but I flop on the couch with my laptop and just spend the whole damn afternoon/evening watching YouTube videos. Vlogs, clicking through one clickbait to another, listening to nostalgic songs from the past; the whole shebang.

And I've done it again, you know. Don't ask me how, but I just ended up on kids' series. Yes, really. All the nostalgic women’s series from back in the day that, looking back, were totally the shit. Time for a round of our favorites and even more fun: the intros. Because the songs at the beginning, man man, we almost did it just for that.

Braceface

My goodness, how many times have I watched these episodes. Who in grade 8 wasn't addicted to the series with Sharon Spitz and that crazy magnetic brace that always got her into trouble? The funkiest part? The song, of course. Duh.

Totally Spies

Copied from Charlie’s Angels or not, Totally Spies was totally the end. With Sam, Alex, and Clover, three students from Beverly Hills who secretly spy for WOOHP (World Organization Of Human Protection) led by Jerry. HAHAHA.

Shin Chan

‘Sometimes silly, more than stupid, but he really doesn't care. Shin Chan!‘ I almost forgot about this friend. And come on, those bare butt moments were the best, right?

Rocket Power

About those super sporty kids who live at the beach and practice just about every sport that exists (uh, was that a sporty hint for kids, creators? I missed that one, I'm afraid…). A little bit of a shame that the Dutch version is nowhere to be found, but well, we can still chant that text to the beat. ‘We are ska-ters, with a mis-sie, super cool vi-sie, top-con-di-tie, start-lan-ce-ring, ROCKET POWER!’

As Told by Ginger

Ah shittie, also blocked by YouTube and thus only available in English. But that shouldn't spoil the fun. ‘Some say: the grass looks much greener on the other side, but I went to take a look to compare the grass. It looked greener, but it wasn't. No, for now, I know what I'm going to do. I stay in the middle, because everything is green there.’

Lizzie McGuire

Those good old Hilary Duff times. With that cute animated character. And then also really loving the movie, right? Can't that series just be remade again? Sigh.

Hamtaro

Little hamsters, big adventures. My god, I had completely forgotten about this. Maybe also intentionally suppressed, because checking Hamtaro every day after school doesn't sound really cool now. Sorry Hamtaro, you were worth it.

And, in the spirit of nostalgia, also nice to grab: 20 things you haven't seen since the ’90s.
