Starring Jane Fonda

We call that a ‘scandal story’, something you want to share with everyone. Orlando Bloom's nude suit, the breakup between Jan and Yolanthe... This week it was undoubtedly Jane Fonda and her presence at the Emmys. Everything, and I mean everything, was stunning about this woman. Her figure, her floor-length fuchsia dress, her jewelry, her bangs, her ponytail, her makeup. And that at the age of 79. That cried out for a fashion college. That's why I'm rolling out the red carpet for Jane Fonda this week.

For the youngsters

Where do we know Jane Fonda from? Well, from the movies ‘Barbarella’ and ‘They shoot horses, don’t they?’ and many more. She won two Oscars, received an Oscar nomination, and when she acted in a film with her father for the first time in 1981, he won his first Oscar in his old age. Fonda has been married to Roger Vadim (you know, him from Brigitte Bardot and Catherine Deneuve (when I experienced this) and two other women you probably don't know) and Ted Turner. She was an anti-Vietnam activist and started making fitness videos in the 80s that I did a lot with my aunt in the living room. So that's Jane, in a nutshell.

What is her secret?

According to her stylist Tanya Gill, it's mainly the way she stands. That's possibly even more important than what you wear or who you wear. ‘When Jane walks into the room, you stop for a moment. She just has that.’

Does she have a signature?

Jane gets warm and short of breath from pantsuits, cinched waists, shiny fabrics, and animal prints in all shapes and forms. Age is nothing but a number, because there’s no blow-dried wave on Jane's head, who is considering a more understated wardrobe. A Versace dress with cut-outs, a bottle green one-piece from Balmain with a chain to the waist; Jane rocks it all.

Does she have a golden tip?

Jane uses the who-what-where-and-why method. She asks where the event is, who will be there, what the occasion is, and adjusts her outfit accordingly. Also a good tip for those at home: look up the restaurant you are going to online, check the location of the wedding. It will inspire you and effortlessly guide you through your closet. And in the meantime, watch a lot of Jane and her peers.
