ANOTHER HBO HIT

Big Little Lies

I'm so far behind when it comes to series that I'm starting to have mild panic attacks. My series FOMO is not going well at all. Last week I finally finished ‘American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson’, and then I immediately started on the new series 13 Reasons Why, but goodness, I can't open a website without coming across everything about the series ‘Big Little Lies’. This week I'm going to lock myself away because Nicole Kidman is being praised for her role in this show, there's apparently something with actor Alexander Skarsgård's penis getting hit by a tennis racket, and I even read something that said this is a kind of ‘Mean Girls’ meets ‘Gone Girl’. So long story short: we all need to binge ‘Big Little Lies’ if HBO has its way. And here's why:

Reese Witherspoon

‘Reese is like you've never seen her before’, they say. If you still think of her as Elle Woods from ‘Legally Blonde’, that's a thing of the past after this show. Her character in the series has balls and she apparently also has the best one-liners. Southern Belle gone badass. This sounds good.

The rest of the cast

Not only does Reese shine in this series, Nicole Kidman is also part of it, hot piece of ass Alexander Skarsgård (I love him, despite the fact that he plays a jerk in the show), but also the girl with the coolest dad in the world is in it: Zoë Kravitz and young talent Shailene Woodley, whom you might know from the Divergent trilogy.

It's a murder mystery

So someone is dead. No worries, I'm not spoiling anything, because the first episode is called ‘Somebody's Dead’, so that seems pretty clear. After each episode, you're one step closer to the answer to the question of who is guilty of the murder, and that's exactly what makes the series so powerful. You get completely caught up in the mystery of who did what and everyone becomes a suspect. It's just like a season of ‘Who is the Mole?’.

The music

I may not have started watching yet, but I've already looked up and saved all the songs in a new Spotify playlist. I'm now also forcing you to look up the song ‘Cold Little Heart’ by Michael Kiwanuka, because it's used during the opening credits of the series and is so intensely beautiful that that's reason enough to start watching.

The reviews

It's already being said that this is the best show of 2017. Seems pretty clear to me, right? We're all going to watch Big Little Lies.
Ciaoooo.
