FRAGRANCE FROM A FAIRYTALE
A minute of free shopping somewhere, I think every woman has thought about that at some point. What will it be for you? Zara, & Other Stories, Gucci or Chanel? I really don’t need to think about that. Since the moment I received my very first perfume as a gift from my mother (Oilily of course), I have created a true addiction to perfumes. And I’m not talking about the commercial scents from ICI Paris XL or Douglas (although I do have a Cartier or Chanel in my collection), but about exclusive fragrances that turn heads on the street. Once, I chased a woman in Italy because of the powdery scent that surrounded her. Since then, that has been my favorite perfume. I was as happy as a child when I finally lived close to one of my favorite stores: Skins Cosmetics. A true paradise for women; whether you are looking for a good cream, the perfect scented candle, or that exclusive fragrance. I can spend hours there, smelling the paper tags interspersed with a glass of Colombian coffee beans, only to walk out again with a headache, surrounded by a cocktail of scents. My absolute favorite scents? I’ll keep those a secret for now. I do have to let slip one little secret. Skins is coming out with a completely new line from the British Penhaligon’s, and believe me: you want it, if only for the romantic look of the bottle and the even more romantic story behind the scents.
Penhaligon’s, a British perfumery, was founded in 1870 by William Penhaligon. Penhaligon’s launched its first perfume in 1872, inspired by the Turkish bath and the sulfurous steam. Meanwhile, the collection has quickly expanded, and not only are the scents incredibly delicious, but the house has also tried to attract attention with the story behind the bottles. And they have succeeded. Very well indeed.
‘Our heroine today is Lady Blanche, the charming wife of the noble Lord George.’
Our heroine today is Lady Blanche, the charming wife of the noble Lord George. A scent from a series of six, released last year. Lady Blanche embodies dedication and ‘her aloof beauty, mysterious past, and burning passions are critically examined by everyone, from shop girls to royalty. Our strict, calm, and elegant beauty full of feigned politeness has worked hard to get to where she is now. And she will do much more to not lose her position in society.’ Is there a reason to worry? Yes, secretly Lady Blanche is a dirty bitch who sometimes can’t control herself very well. Lady Blanche knows something she would rather not know, something that should remain hidden, so that no stain comes on her icy-white reputation. It is knowledge that makes her furious, an insult to the core of Lady Blanche’s nature. Penhaligon’s The Revenge of Lady Blanche is, in an attempt to tell about her steely character, a strong floral scent with multiple green, powdery, and woody-earthy nuances. The image of a floral blanket of yellow daffodils surrounded by velvety moss. But the day is not as sunny and carefree as it seems… The name of the scent is not for nothing ‘The Revenge of Lady Blanche’! The sadness and anger that lie very close together are so strong that they could poison someone. Poison? No, Lady Blanche is smart. She counts to ten, takes a deep breath, and suddenly smiles. She imagines how tenderly and carefully she will tend to the beautiful flowers growing on the grave of her beloved husband, her husband who tragically died far too early. The man whose lust can no longer cause harm. The husband who will forever remain loyal only to land and king. Clever lady, that Lady Blanche.
Lady Blanche is available at Skins Cosmetics. If you, like me, are a huge fan of exclusive scents, then this incredibly Instagrammable bottle certainly cannot be missing from your vanity.
