Phones of the past

Oh boys, what amazing news this is. Rumour has it that Nokia is bringing the 3310 back to the market. I got my first mobile in eighth grade, because after the summer holidays I had to cycle twenty kilometers to the big school. A turquoise Swing 200 a.k.a. the love of my life.

“It was kitsch what the clock struck”

That Swing may have been my first love, but I went from team heavy test (because those little ones had that) to the sophisticated update in the form of version 400. And I tell you: if Nokia reincarnates the blue 3310 with silver toppings, we call on the producers to launch this historical good back on the market.

Nokia 3210

Because yes, nice that 3310 with Snake... Oh meine lieben, SNAKE is coming back. The original, with far too few pixels, the delight. But that 3310 had an older sister, the 3210 with its beautiful shapes in the candy colors. Which also liked to be called Nokia, capiche?

Samsung E500

Yes, I had this one. A mirror, a little fake diamond as a pendant, finished with leather and adorned with golden curls. Oh, it was kitsch what the clock struck and it was an amazing era. Do you know why? Because of the snap when you closed the phone. So quasi nonchalant, so très très elegant, I want it back. By the way, it was available in white-gold, pink, and gold-chocolate. I was team chocolate (and I still am).

Motorola’s with an antenna

The model didn't matter, as long as there was an antenna planted on that mobile. And you would pull it out very Inspector Gadget-like from its housing to improve your reception by a trillionth. Motorola was the king of antennas. And if you had one of those little talkers with it, then you were the man. Renske believes in the comeback of the antenna.

Sony Ericsson GF768

Back to those little talkers. A technical gadget that you unfolded to make yourself understandable, Sony was a major shareholder in that. Available in royal blue, intriguing green, or just very je ne sais quoi gray.

Samsung slide

After the clapping, we started sliding with the Samsung slide. Actually, Samsung was the ruler among phones along with Nokia. But those sliders were also intensely cool. It was an upgrade from the clapping, it gave you swing; sliding was a thing.

First generation iPhone

Last but not least and now you might think: but that one isn't that old yet? Nope, even though it is heading towards its tenth birthday. And take the thing out of the old box for fun, because then you will find it really quite strange. But well, with this little character we of course live happily ever after.
