Spotted on the runway
Le sleek, c’est chic
Alright, so team Milan Fashion Week (hi Kiek, hi Lil) is currently in full fashion swing, but I want to take a quick throwback to New York. In terms of trends, May has already given an indication of what will be hot next year, but let’s not forget about the hair. Although I often prefer it curled myself (so that I barely make it on time on my bike to the editorial office and always arrive in the morning with a bird’s nest on my head. Anyone have tips for this? Please email me.) it is according to the Americans completely in to wear it as sleek as possible.
DVF
I mention a Diane von Furstenberg (or from Lichtenstein, as our cameraman Sascha once called her) who gave her models a tight side parting with the strands straight down and behind the ears during the collection presentation. The hair so precise that you could still see the exact lines of the comb in the side parting.
Michael Kors
For ‘Destination Kors’ they also went for slicked back and a middle parting, but with a bit more wave than at DVF.
Proenza Schouler
Then the girls at Proenza Schouler. They went for a sleek architectural silhouette, or in other words, with a slightly more polished look than during the previous shows. Holli Smith, the lady behind the hairstyle, wanted to go for something with a statement; ‘For me, it’s a way to create a neat and clean look with a graphic shape in it.’
Narciso Rodriguez
Narciso Rodriguez also went straight down with a middle parting. ‘Well-groomed’, as he called it.
Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham was also team style and went for a look that, just like her collection, looked ‘low-maintenance’.
By the way, it wasn’t just the Americans who were team style hair, we also spotted it in London, such as on the runway of Mary Katrantzou, who went for sleek long strands on her models.
