SUN ALLERGY

Hello there, the sun is shining. I am a big supporter of the sun, because my energy level goes up a trillion times and I am a lot more pleasant to be around (that dark brown suspicion I have myself, at least). But with the sun comes my allergy, as in: being terrorized by red bumps. I have sun allergy in its extreme form. If I dive into the sun unprotected, the spots shoot out of my hands. This is due to my disturbed or rather disturbed skin. Read here but just for a moment. But when you lie on the beach as a mini-me with bandaged hands, you develop clever tricks to still get the right amount of sun. So do you have sun allergy? Then this is worth a try.

1. Always apply

Do you react allergically to too much sun? Make sure you never, ever step into the sun unprotected. By the way, this is also a bad idea if you don't suffer from this issue. Make it part of your routine. Grab the bottle of sunscreen half an hour before you are exposed to the sun and apply it. And repeating is the trick, all day long.

2. Take it easy

Gradually build up your portion of sun. When the sun shows itself for the first time, catch the rays right away. Keep doing this in moderation. You produce pigment in the skin, which protects you against excessive radiation. So don’t immediately fry and bake with your milk bottles in a tropical place, because you will get very nasty reactions from that.

3. Test the right creams

The person with sun allergy knows this of course for a long time, but maybe you are just dealing with this discomfort. Stay away from creams with oil, even if that color goes on; the red bumps do that too. Oil acts like a magnifying glass for the sun. Recommendations are the sunscreens from Sisley, the oil-free variant from Lancaster (my favorite) and the variant from Shiseido.

4. Sun with breaks

As when the heatwave finally arrives in our country, you want to grab what you can. I understand, but unfortunately, we are from the company umbrella-on-time. With this mutant-like flaw in your gene package, you simply cannot go full throttle in the sun. It’s a matter of accepting and adapting. Alternate that sun with shade and you keep your skin a satisfied covering. You also stay a lot prettier.

5. UV-A or UV-B

There are various types of sun allergy. You can be allergic to UV-A, UV-B, or you react completely okay to an ingredient in your sunscreen. Always visit the doctor to be sure of what type you have. With his or her knowledge in hand, you know what works for you.
