The coolest rooftop bars
in the world

Longer light outside. With bare legs under your skirts. Intense tingles to go for gin tonics every evening. Yes, spring flutters through my belly too. And so it was time for a round of rooftop bars where you spontaneously want to hop on a plane.

Bangkok

‘The most stunning rooftop bar you’ll ever see’, according to The New York Times about the skybar in hotel Lebua. And, have you seen the movie ‘The Hangover Part II’? Then you know exactly what I’m talking about. This is such an incredibly awesome rooftop that I can hit myself on the head for not having been there during my trip to Thailand. But I was sipping cocktails at rooftop bar Above Eleven on the 32nd floor. Also a recommendation by the way.

Barcelona

Grand Hotel Central is the place you want to be. You do need to book a hotel room first because the sky bar is exclusive for hotel guests. But, trust me, that’s no punishment with that infinity pool overlooking the city.

New York

I look at Elke on the left and she immediately says: “Soho House”. Even if it’s just because of the insanely nice pool. Oh, and also not entirely unimportant: the chance of spotting celebs there is about 99.9 percent. “Hey, George C, you here too?”

Istanbul

Mikla is in the top 50 of the best restaurants in the world. But besides the food (I’ve tasted it and it’s total foodporn, I can tell you) they are also known for their rooftop bar. Go there around nine, order a Cosmo and enjoy the view. Something with a thousand-and-one-night fairy tale.

Amsterdam

Yep, and then the W hotel really takes the award for Amsterdam. But maybe I’m really biased because if it were up to me, I would move into this hotel immediately (read here why). And okay, maybe the W isn’t the highest rooftop in the city, but in terms of vibe, it’s definitely the coolest and you can enjoy your drink by the pool.

Singapore

For the most spectacular view, you go to 1-Altitude, the highest rooftop bar in Singapore. Hello 63 floors, hello One Raffles Place building (282 meters high). Breathe in the fresh air at this height and you feel alive. Really.

London

A tip from Simoon. Because if you really want to enjoy the view over London city, then you park your butt on the roof at the Radio Rooftop Bar. And honestly: seeing this, I immediately understand why.
