The loco moves of the celebrity Scientology followers
Oh oh Scientology, what crazy things you do with people. Never looked into it? Here’s a little bit more Scientology for beginners. If you ever wonder what crazy things celebrities have done in the name of the religion, here are some crazy facts lined up:
Leah Rimini
Maddy wrote here earlier about the most famous dropout of the religion. In 2015, her memoirs titled Troublemaker were released and she also made a docuseries about her personal experiences with Scientology. In it, she mentions what her most loco move ever was for the faith: a donation of $1 million dollars (this is absurd). What did she get back for that amount? She got to chill with the highest-ranking members like Tom Cruise. Well Leah, I can name a million things you could have spent your money on better
.
Bart Simpson
Okay, Nancy Cartwright then, the voice of the cartoon character Bart Simpson from The Simpsons. Let’s go back to the year 2009 when she thought she could use her famous voice to promote a Scientology event without asking permission from the creators of the show. The network FOX was all but amused regarding Nancy, and apologized. ‘The Simpsons has never and will never support a religion or philosophy that is deeper than Butterfinger bars.’ A fan of The Simpsons? Then you get it. Dumb move by Nance, but lucky for her, it was forgiven; eight years later, her voice was still used for the show.
Well Leah, I can name a million things you could have spent your money on better
Kirstie Alley
Kirstie is Leah Rimini's ex-BFF. And what do you do when your BFF leaves your church? You post it on Twitter of course. ‘When faced with malicious gossip I take a moment to experience the loss of the person I thought was my friend… Then I say f*ck em… #RISE.’ You should know: in Scientology, they always talk about ‘SP’s’ (suppressive persons). These are the people who, like Leah, leave the faith, but also those who have ever said anything negative about Scientology in any way (by this, I am officially an SP). Among others, you can find Napoleon, Hitler, drug dealers, and murderers on the list of SP’s. Yup, that’s right. Never expected to be compared to them, huh?
John Travolta
If you are a member of Scientology, you are anti-medicine. So claims John Travolta to have once relieved someone of their pain with nothing more than an ‘assist’.
What does that exactly mean? Scientologists (do you call them that?) can make an individual healthy simply by connecting with the human mind. So...
But there’s more, because Travolta not only thinks he has magical powers, he even once accepted a movie role, all to gain points with his church. The movie is called ‘Battlefield Earth’ and was once named the worst movie of the century by The Razzies. But yes, if the story comes from the founder of Scientology, you obviously don’t refuse that role.
Finally: did you really think John’s singing talent was over after the movie Grease? No way. If you want to enjoy his vocal range, look up ‘The Road to Freedom’ from 1986. All sponsored by: ding ding ding, the Church of Scientology.
Katie Holmes
What exactly happened between Katie and Tom is still unclear, but everything points to Scientology having a lot to do with it. There are even rumors that Katie arranged through a disposable phone that she could divorce Tom and get custody of Suri. Sounds bizarre, but then again, everything sounds bizarre in the world of Scientology.
