I have long given up hope that the name Elke will ever be in the top 10, let alone in the top 50. But maybe that makes it fun again, having a name that doesn't occur insanely often. I think I've only met two other Elkes in my life. Both also blonde by the way and also good-looking and super sweet. By the way, no idea if I've said this before, but if you ever look up the name Elke on Instagram, like hey, you end up on a very, uhm, interesting Instagram page. Just click, it's funny.

Fortunately, there are always names that get banned and that make you think the parents were anything but sober when they came up with them. Are you mainly curious about what was very popular in 2016: in the Netherlands, the first place was for girls Anna and for boys Daan. Last year I also wrote about the popularity of English names in the Netherlands, and that remains, but Anna and Daan have dropped a few places.
