The Victoria’s Secret diet

During my Insta-scroll of the week, I lingered on the account of our gorgeous Gigi. Not just any photo of her, but one where she is devouring a delicious greasy burger. And that with the biggest show of the year on the horizon. Still, they do the Hadid sisters stick to a diet, namely the so-called keto diet.

With the keto diet, your daily intake should consist of 60 percent fats, 30 percent proteins, and only 10 percent carbohydrates. So say goodbye to that delicious thick slice of sourdough bread at lunch or that mountain of pasta for dinner. And you can also wave goodbye to that pizza. What is allowed is an extra dollop of mayo next to your piece of meat. I have my question marks about it (because: allergy to the word ‘diet‘), but Charles Passler, nutritionist and coach for many Victoria’s Secret models, swears by the idea. ‘Normally, our body burns carbohydrates or glucose for energy. If you consume few carbohydrates, the body enters a ketosis where the fat in the body is broken down into ketones that in turn provide energy to the muscles and the brain. The diet ensures that your blood sugar level remains balanced (which means you’re less likely to reach for that bar) and you start burning fat,’ says Passler.

Unlimited with the spoon in that mayo jar, without guilt an extra piece of avocado, an extra layer of peanut butter, and a quick swipe with the cheese slicer over that fresh piece from the farmer. Sounds like a dream. But, girlfriend, there are limits to that too. Ultimately, it remains true that you have to burn more than you take in, carbohydrates are anything but scary creatures, and we need to get off that couch a bit more if we want to fit into those skinny jeans.

I’m already looking forward to all the hot dogs, burgers, melting cheeses, mountains of sauces, and other fatty foods that will appear on the Insta of our angels. Although I still wonder if it was for the photo or if our Gigi really filled her tight little belly.
