This way you will be free from your hay fever forever
The summer is for many people the favorite season. But there are also plenty of people who curse my favorite season. Because: pollen party, read: misery. Now we have had the worst of it for this year, but before you know it, another year will pass and we will start all over again. There is news, girlfriends, good news even. It could very well be that something is finally coming to the market that addresses allergies. That time of itchy eyes, a itchy nose and sneezing fits seems to be over for good, because American scientists have discovered which part of our body is precisely responsible for allergies.
The culprits are the Th2 cells. T-helper cells (Th) are a form of white blood cells that play an important role in the immune system, of which there are two types. The good ones that help your immune system and the bad ones that cause allergic reactions. Science can neatly separate those two in the future. As a result, they can treat allergies more effectively and better medications will come to the market in the long run. No more a box of tissues on every table in your house, how nice is that?
And I won't be the only one who is extremely happy about this, because no less than one in four people suffers from an allergy. The biggest nasty bastards are pollen, house dust mites, pets, food, and insect bites. So far, allergies are treated with immunotherapy, which is nothing more than a treatment where you receive a small dose of the substance your body cannot tolerate. This method is expensive and does not always work. In the future, they want to suppress the bad Th2 cells or even better: kill them. I can’t wait. Then summer will be even more beautiful.
