9 tips against hay fever

Hey friend, just a bit more about that hay fever. Because apparently I'm far from the only one suffering from this terror. These twelve quick tips might help you with the misery called hay fever.

1. Sunnies

Wear sunglasses outside to protect your eyes from all that swirling nonsense. Especially if you wear contact lenses, this tip is brilliant.

2. Windows open

Keep doors and windows absolutely closed if you're suffering from a runny nose and sneezing fits. Unless it just started pouring outside and the rain is coming down in buckets. Open your windows when it's calm and thus after that rain shower. That's when there are the least pollen in the air.

3. Exercise

And the same goes for doing your workout. Are you addicted to your park run in the spring? Put on your running shoes when that rain shower has just passed and most of the pollen are out of the air.

4. Wash wash wash

Pollen cling to your clothes. So put them straight in the washing machine when you get home. Preferably wear a clean set of clothes every day to limit your sneezing as much as possible.

5. Itch

Itchy eyes? Then there's a good chance you'll start rubbing them with your hands. Don't do that, because it will only make it worse.

6. Hay fever weather report

Did you know there's a special hay fever weather report? You can receive that every day on your phone. You'll know right away if you should stay in bed.

7. Honey honey

The remedy for hay fever is honey. A spoonful of good quality honey in your breakfast works wonders. Many people say they benefit from a daily spoonful of honey, well before the start of the hay fever season. This way, you let your body get used to the allergen itself. The best is to take a type of honey where the bees have fed on the blossom of the tree or plant you are actually allergic to.

8. Bee pollen

Not a fan of honey? How about bee pollen? Bee pollen is made from the pollen of bees and supports people who are stressed or have a runny nose. You can get this superfood at the health food store and it's actually quite tasty too. Use it, for example, as a topping on your smoothie bowl.

9. Cleaning

People with hay fever know that the vacuum cleaner is their best friend. Occasionally fly through your house with the vacuum cleaner and mop a few times a week. It saves you a lot of snot, believe me.
