3X SMOOTHIE BOWLS
On weekends, I love to settle down in one of the many Amsterdam healthy hotspots. Put an açai bowl and an almond latte in front of me and I am a very happy person. But sometimes, you know, sometimes I find it just as nice to scoop that bowl empty from my bed. Those are the days when I give my Fitbit a little rest and the only steps I take are the steps in my house. Are you, like me, a big fan of smoothie bowls and do you not get further than a frozen banana and a handful of blueberries? Then I have three delicious variations on the now well-known açai bowl for you.
1. Salted chocolate & hemp bowl (for 2 people)
400 ml plant-based milk
1 large frozen banana, chopped into pieces
4 large medjool dates, pitted
3 tbsp cocoa powder
3 tbsp hulled hemp seeds
1 tbsp coconut butter or nut butter
1/2 tsp cinnamon
pinch of sea salt
3 ice cubes
1. Blend all ingredients in the blender on the highest setting.
2. Divide the smoothie between two bowls and garnish.
Garnish tips: hemp seeds, cacao nibs, and grated coconut. But a handful of homemade granola also works well on this smoothie bowl.
2. Lemon tart smoothie bowl
250 ml coconut water
75 grams fresh young spinach
2 frozen bananas
1 avocado
zest of a large lime
juice of 1 lime
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp matcha powder
1. Blend all ingredients in the blender on the highest setting.
2. Taste in between and make it a little sweeter by adding some extra maple syrup if desired.
3. Pour into two bowls and garnish as desired.
Garnish tips: fresh pieces of mango, pineapple, banana, coarse toasted coconut flakes, or pumpkin seeds.
3. Rainbow bowl
700 grams watermelon
250 grams fresh strawberries
1 avocado, chopped
1 tbsp maple syrup
1. Freeze half of the watermelon and cleaned strawberries for a few hours.
2. Put the fresh watermelon in the blender and mix on medium speed until a watery mass.
3. Add the frozen watermelon, frozen strawberries, maple syrup, and avocado to the blender and mix everything well together.
4. Pour the smoothie into two bowls.
Garnish tip: create a rainbow in your bowl by adding some blueberries, pieces of kiwi, mango, extra watermelon, and strawberries.
