WHAT TO DO THIS WEEKEND

by Theo Bakana

Did you keep your promise? All fresh and fruity through the week? I told you last week: winter is coming. And what did I tell you? Indeed. Snow, rain, wind, and my apologies, because it wasn't my intention for it to turn out this intense. But under the motto ‘rowing with the oars you have’, this week the finest covered weekend tips. And before you know it, it's spring again.

Sexyland

Yes, you read that right: Sexyland. I thought: this Friday could use a little extra spice and no, it's not a new Netflix series or a newly discovered uninhabited island where only characters like Mila Kunis and Penelope Cruz are parading around. Sexyland is a new eclectic club, as they call it in common parlance, and the special thing about this new place is that there is someone different in charge 365 days a year. I still need to figure out how I can wield the scepter here for a day, but it promises to be something for everyone. From laptop clean-ups to lectures and parties where you need to get your breasts wet. Tonight the new club opens and tomorrow you can go there for a cheeky exhibition and a spicy party.

Hotel hopping

Normally, you hope that the room is a bit decent when you book a hotel, that the bed is comfortable and there is a life-size mirror. Where you can see if that outfit you had in mind is really a good idea. If this is not the case, you don't just hop to another hotel. This weekend, you can. It's Hotel Night in Amsterdam again, the perfect opportunity to take a look at almost all the hotels our capital has to offer. I have the following hotels planned: to a screening of The Grand Budapest Hotel at the Conservatorium Hotel, then a little paddling during the pool party at the Amstel Hotel and dusting off - this hotel is currently being renovated into the silent disco that Marriott is organizing. For the closing party, I will pick a fork from the specially curated menu at Park Hotel and then enjoy room service at Room Service (you get it, you get it) in Hotel Arena. If this plan doesn't quite suit you, then you can find here the entire program.

Scoring new clothes

There is very little that can brighten up a rainy day like a new piece of clothing. Especially if you can snag it for free. So instead of Netflix & chill, you can also choose a weekend of ‘bed & online shop’. Believe me, this will become a thing in 2017. But joking aside, on some sites, the last rounds of sales can still be found; do I need to say more? You can also brave the winter weather and go to the KLOFFIE Market in the Hallen. By the way, you can also rent a rack yourself if your wardrobe can no longer close. And if there's nothing in between, you can also take a stroll past all the covered food stalls. New clothes and comfort food, can I get an amen? Hallelujah, praise the… Sorry, I got carried away.

Couch potato

Do you prefer to be a homebody, cocoon, or couch potato this weekend, a.k.a. doing absolutely nothing? It's all in how you dress it, of course, then it sounds a bit cool. The same goes for your interior, because there's nothing fun about staring at a bare wall all weekend on a couch that pokes your back with its springs. If that's the case, then go to The Loft. Here you will find mountains of interior inspiration and everything is for sale. So you can strike immediately and brighten up your own home a bit, then you really won't want to get off that couch. Where you need to be? At Vijzelstraat number 77, where you can enter The Loft of Miss Bare (the theme this year is simplicity). Renske has already been and is now broke, says enough, right?

Next week we will hit the fields and paths again, okay? For now, I wish you a nice, dry, warm, and covered weekend.
