WHAT TO DO THIS WEEKEND

by Theo Bakana

Yahs girls (and boys, because I know you're reading along too), it worked. The first week of the new year is already over. Why my enthusiasm? The first days of 2017 were quite bumpy for me, and looking around, I'm not the only one. A bruised rib here, a sore throat there, and I'm typing this while eagerly waiting for my new nasal spray. Do you understand the joy now? Time for the weekend, so it's “time to grab the bull by its horns”. Or well, do it a bit gently. That first weekend, you have to ease into it, of course. So this time a bit low key and especially non-alcoholic weekend activities.

D-d-detox

Yes, you read that right and no, I have no further ambitions to become a fit girl . But a pause can be quite nice sometimes. As a detox novice, I was advised to try a juice cleanse when you don't have much to do. A weekend is perfect timing for that. And where can you find a good detox? Plenty of options. You can take a look at Juice Brothers or The Cold Pressed Juicery. Detox Delight also has a really good one (so I've heard, I still need to try it), where you even get a soup with it. You can also go to our favorite Pick or to Sla, they have a real detox menu. Plenty of choices. Shall we start Monday completely cleansed and fresh for our new week?

Cold feet

As Jon Snow would say and as you probably felt today: winter is coming. Actually, it was already here, but now the temperatures are matching. Everyone deals with it in their own way; for example, Rens has a very special. However you do it, the fact remains that the temperatures are dropping below zero. So it's going to be cold. And we can either sit around feeling sorry for ourselves or ’take it like a man’, or ‘girl’, in your case. ‘How?’ I hear you thinking. By putting on your skates and heading to Haaksbergen, for example. What the hell is there to do in Haaksbergen? Well, let me tell you. This weekend you can hear the ice cracking beneath you, do a little skating or brave the first natural ice with a chair. If Haaksbergen is too far for you, you can also still here go.

Light it up

Do you prefer to seek warmth with these temperatures? Then I have the perfect solution for you, especially if you haven't had time to put your now bald Christmas tree on the neighbors' curb. On Sunday, the annual Christmas tree burning takes place at the Museumplein in Amsterdam. Think warmth, coziness, and you're immediately rid of your Christmas tree. Because no, it really can't stay after January 10. Do I hear win-win-win?

Musical activities

There is also plenty to do for music lovers, for example, you can go to the latest edition of the Pulitzer’s Winter Garden. The Pulitzer is definitely one of our favorite spots and now they have made the garden completely winterproof, with live music. Shall we have a cup of non-alcoholic mulled wine there? If you're feeling a bit more extravagant, definitely go to Kiki’s hometown, where the New Year's concert takes place in the Domkerk on Saturday (yes, that's something different, but hey, new year, new...) and then you can immediately check out these addresses afterwards.

I think we're heading for a very clean and fresh weekend. We don't want to peak too early, because we all know what comes of that... Go for it, guys, we'll make it. 2017 will be our year.

See you next week. Fresh and fruity, okay?
