Guilty Pleasures
NINA PIERSON
You probably know the beautiful Nina, and if not, you know her beloved salad bar SLA or her online magazine Bedrock. The brand new mommy gave birth to her daughter Ella Livia in April and happily finds time to chat with us about her strange quirks and secret hobbies. Look, that's nice.
What is your most used excuse?
“’Too busy!’ Although, it's not really an excuse because often it is true.”
Which movie, TV show, or series makes you cry every time?
“My Sister’s Keeper, The Broken Circle Breakdown, and The Fault in Our Stars. In all three films, the floodgates open and I have to hold back from crying out loud.”
Your ultimate guilty pleasure?
“Watching Idols and The Voice with a plate on my lap!”
What bad music do you secretly enjoy?
“Well, what is bad music? When I went through my Spotify playlist, I only came across what I think is good music. Okay, I admit: what might be a bit weird for others is the music of Deva Premal & Miten. All beautifully sung mantras. I also had this on during my delivery. That really makes you zen!”
What is your secret hobby?
“Writing in my diary. Since the birth of my daughter Ella, I also keep a baby book for her. Complete with cut umbilical cord and first lock of hair.”
“Let people be healthy if they want to, I don't really understand why people get annoyed by that.”
What do you find an annoying trait of yourself?
“That I sometimes care a bit too much about others. Very annoying, sometimes I really shortchange myself because of that.”
Do you have an obsession?
“No, fortunately not! That seems very annoying.”
What would people really not expect from you?
“That I quite often (read daily) make an exception when it comes to unhealthy food. Especially when I was still pregnant. Now I can fortunately let it go a bit more often.”
What is your biggest pointless irritation?
“I can really get annoyed by people who are too quick to judge. Oh yes, and I also sometimes go crazy from people who oppose the whole health hype. Let people be healthy if they want to, I don't really understand why people get annoyed by that.”
Which word do you actually use just a little too often?
”I almost always say “therefore” when I want to confirm something someone says. It has really become a filler word.”
’Chocolate. Preferably Tony’s Chocolonely with the green wrapper.”
“I eat way too much chocolate! Often dark, unless I have received milk. Like last time, when the Bijenkorf sent me the milk Tony’s Chocolonely with sea salt and caramel for my first Mother’s Day. Of course, I couldn't resist that.”
