Who do you prefer?
Finally, it was here: the long-awaited first solo single from Harry Styles. He is the second former One Direction member to release his own album. The song is called ‘Sign of the Times’ and I've played it about twenty times. I feel a bit of an Oasis vibe; I’m digging it. A few others in the editorial team feel it a bit less. They are Team Zayn who of course released an extremely sexy song when he went solo and it’s hard to beat. ’Pillowtalk’, yes, that still makes me quite warm. Especially when I see the clip with his beloved Gigi Hadid. In terms of music genre, that’s totally different from what his former boyband buddy Harry does. So it’s time to break it down; are you Team Harry or are you Team Zayn?
Team Harry
Harry has that old-school rocker look and sound. It actually fits perfectly into the picture of British music heroes. In terms of looks, I think he resembles someone who could easily have been part of Pink Floyd, but also a younger version of Mick Jagger. Perhaps he even has a bit of a Beatles vibe. England is known for its many successful rockers and after releasing his first album, I have the feeling that Harry will soon fit into that list of British (rock) music heroes. He has left the poppy sound of One Direction behind and is now going for a more mature sound. And I think it’s hot, Harry, keep it coming.

Team Zayn
Millions of teenage hearts broke when Zayn announced he was leaving One Direction. A feeling I know all too well, because I had that when *NSYNC decided to stop as a boyband. And then Justin went solo and let’s be honest: the best decision ever, because the music Justin released afterwards was genius. I actually feel a bit the same about Zayn. I love his music. Played on repeat in the editorial office and at home. His voice is the definition of sexy and sultry. He suddenly has a very different sound than that of One Direction, and it’s also completely different from Harry's sound. Then a little about his looks: I totally understand why Versus chose him for their latest campaign. Zayn is incredibly sexy, he’s got that bad boy look and when he smiles, sigh. Gigi, I envy you.
But still, if I ever found myself in a situation where both men would want something with me (yes yes I know, keep dreaming, Elke), I would still go for Harry. I like the rock ’n rollers just a bit more. Final score of the two on the rest of the editorial team? Simoon agrees with me and stays with Team Harry, but Kiek and Lil go for sultry and sexy and are Team Zayn. So Simoon, something about sharing is caring, right, if Harry is around? Wink wink.
