The 5 most beautiful beaches in Greece

Test. What do you think of when you hear the words sun, sea, and paradise beach? The Maldives? The Bahamas? Hawaii? Probably. And yet I can tell you that you really don't have to sit on a plane for that real paradise feeling. The real hidden gems are actually in our own Europe and just a 2.5-hour flight away. I present to you: Greece. Small, deserted, quiet, and just as breathtakingly beautiful as in the travel brochures. These are the most beautiful.

1. Simos Beach (Elafonisos)

Located on the idyllic little island of Elafonisos, you will find this undiscovered gem; a paradise that has not yet been discovered by mass tourism. Man, swimming here in the sea feels like taking a dip in a swimming pool. You get it: put this at the top of your bucket list. Especially in the months of May, June, September, or October, it is still nice and quiet.

2. Shipwreck Beach (Zakynthos)

Maybe you think: yeah right, that can't be true. I can tell you: the travel brochures do not lie. Shipwreck Beach really looks like this. I’ll tell you right away that I am very biased when it comes to this island. Nine years ago, I met my lover here. Shipwreck Beach is undoubtedly the showcase of Zakynthos. A bit touristy (not in this photo of course, duh those Greeks are not stupid) but oh so beautiful and a real experience to have once.

3. Balos Beach (Crete)

On the peninsula of Gramvoussa, you will find the most beautiful beach in Crete if you ask me. It is very remote, on the northwest side of the island. Don't ask me how, but the water is so turquoise that you wonder if you are lying among the palm trees in Aruba.

4. Sarakiniko Beach (Milos)

For those who are tired of sand between their toes and are looking for more adventure: this is your hidden spot. On the north coast of Milos, you will find this special beach in a lunar landscape. The landscape is defined by volcanic rocks shaped by wind and waves. You won't find plants, sunbeds, and toilets there, but you will find unique photos and peace squared. The choice is yours.

5. Myrtos Beach (Kefalonia)

Rightly the most photographed beach of Kefalonia. Myrtos Beach is located on the west coast of the Greek island, twelve kilometers east of the holiday destination Agia Efimia. The sea water is azure blue and the view of the bay is so Instagrammable that it makes you want to go there. UGH, I want to go here now.

So, are you looking for your passport already? See you there. Bye!
