5x vega in own country

Day seven already of this Vega week. Survived? Was it okay? Or did you, like me, not participate because you hardly eat meat anyway... That can of course be the case. Earlier this week I already gave you some delicious vegetarian recipes from meat substitutes that you can even serve to the biggest carnivore. But you can also increasingly eat better vegetarian food outside. I have compiled a nice list for you with the best restaurants that mainly conjure green onto your plate. Absolutely worth it, I promise!

AMSTERDAM – YERBA

At Yerba, vegetables, from the root to the leaf, take center stage. Where normally that perfectly cooked piece of beef or that buttery soft salmon fillet is in the spotlight, here the roasted celeriac and perfectly cooked cauliflower steal the show. Each plate is a painting and you will be surprised again with every course. Still want a piece of meat or fish with it? That’s possible... Yerba is cozy small and friendly, currently only open for dinner but soon there will also be a brunch menu.

DELFT – HILLS & MILLS

Genuinely, healthy and tasty food, you can find it perfectly at family business Hills & Mills. Where Hills stands for the Himalayas, the purest source of inspiration. Mills refers to the Dutch windmill, a nod to the place where they are located. Far away and close by, exotic and local. The kitchen is not entirely vegetarian. But what is vegetarian tastes sublime.

BREDA – RESTAURANT LOFF

Loff does everything just a little differently than usual. Healthy, conscious, and organic. In this white oasis, you eat fully vegetarian and partly vegan. Here, no standard menu is placed in front of you, but you fill your plate from the humongous buffet that is central to the restaurant. From soup to salad and from corn fritters to curry, all made with fresh ingredients. Here you take what you like and pay by quantity.

GRONINGEN – BRUSSELS LOF

Brussels Lof was already cooking without meat when vegetarian was still a dirty word. For thirty years, Martin Jarings has been cooking with fresh and local products whenever possible. Pure, honest, and simple is what it’s all about at Brussels Lof. And for the cheese fondue (six types, friend, SIX types).

UTRECHT – JUULS HUMMUS

Look, look, I’m coming to you. Or actually, I’m dragging you to Juuls. Hummus paradise and thus a must-visit for us! Hummus gets the honor it deserves here. You don’t just dip a carrot into the puree here, but a real meal is prepared from the golden spread. Create your own bowl and top it with fried eggplant or... homemade stew. The hummus with stew is the specialty of owner Julia and a must-have. With every hummus bowl, you get a pita bread and the famous spicy ’zchug’.
