6 easy ways to not gain weight on vacation
You've trained your three rounds and pushed wine aside for weeks for spinach juices to get that body a bit presentable for the holiday. Gone is the muffin top and gosh guys, did I just see the outlines of a six-pack? I was quite bikini-ready, if I say so myself (thanks to a regime of bootcamp three times a week, personal training once a week and weekend long walks with the dog. And oh yes, I also didn't drink alcohol for at least three days. Boring, but it works.), but to go back home completely to square one after three weeks, I'm not really looking forward to that. Here are the tips to prevent the bikini body from becoming a swimsuit body.
Sports
As soon as you wake up, get started. Either you swim thirty laps in the pool, or you go for a run, or you find (my menu) a workout on YouTube and go through that funnel. The rest of the group is probably still asleep and when everyone wakes up, you've already gotten your dose of exercise. Many hotels also offer yoga classes. Just go. You meet nice people and it's definitely an experience. You can be a little kind to yourself and exercise for half an hour where you would otherwise follow a three-quarter hour class.
The diplomat method
Drink a glass of water after each glass of wine. This way you drink less and the alcohol is properly flushed out. If you want to give your metabolism an extra boost, add some lemon to your water.
Away with that bread basket
I immediately hand it to the waiter or hide it under the linen. Bread is my favorite and before I know it, that basket is empty, especially here in Italy. I also want pasta and other things, so the bread has to go. If you're a bread fan (helloooo Adelain), you can also choose to enjoy that bread (and the olive oil), but then for example skip the pasta and only order fish as the main course.
The ice cream tactic
I have three daughters so I often have to lick dripping ice creams. That's why I never take anything myself, if only to keep my hands free. I still get the sensation.
Park far away
A nice walk is the best way to discover a new city or village. It's often easier and you immediately get a few thousand steps on your counter. Win, win, win.
Skip a meal
Often you have a late and extensive breakfast, so by 2 PM you don't really have to think about lunch. Then have something small and look forward to dinner. Or the other way around: if you've had an extensive lunch, some small snacks will suffice in the evening. Choose wisely, so no chips, but raw vegetables with hummus or fresh fish.
You'll see that you come back brown, without bags under your eyes, and slim.
