If you're already looking forward to Christmas... Good job

I literally dream about snow. And Christmas ornaments. And Christmas trees. And I play ‘All I Want For Christmas’ at every summer barbecue without any problems. I'm already ordering new skates. And I've long since ironed out my winter wardrobe hanging in the closet. I can't wait for December to come fast enough.

Summer is nice too, you know. The sun is pleasant, wearing a dress outside is quite okay every now and then, and with that eternal daylight, you still get up a bit nicer at seven in the morning. But for heaven's sake, isn't there just nothing as nice as autumn? The colors on the trees, that smell of chestnuts and rain outside, the sun that shines but isn't too bright, it's not freezing cold but also not too hot, you can wear fun layers of clothes, you can walk in the cheerful forest or snuggle under a blanket with Netflix without feeling crazy about it for a second. Seasons are fine, but as a person, you can only have one favorite. Because what is the best thing about autumn: after autumn comes Christmas. Well, actually... You can talk about Christmas openly in autumn without people finding it strange, because in summer, they still find that odd. You can finally share your thoughts about the Christmas menu, you can send photos of black glitter Christmas outfits, you can discuss on which day you celebrate with which family, that idea.

It is my absolute favorite holiday of the year, and many others think the same, thankfully. Because that is really good. People who are already getting their Christmas decorations from the attic would actually be happier. That’s because all those snowflake sweaters and reindeer plush toys remind you of that lovely family time, where work stress doesn't exist and you can eat a lot. If you think about that in August, it works just as well. Just the thought of that December time brightens your mood. Houses where Christmas decorations accompany the rooms early in the year are also seen as more accessible and cozy by neighbors and friends. I just want to mention this so my friend and housemate knows. Good.

People who love Christmas seem to be happier than those who don't care much for it, with all that festive ‘Last Christmas I gave you my heart’ nonsense. They have less anxiety, depression, and stress. Phew. I hang my house full of wreaths, candles, and ornaments with a clear conscience, and secretly I’m already listening to ‘We are the world’ and ‘Do they know it’s Christmas’. I don't care at all that September still has to start. Did I mention that in my garden, Christmas lights sparkle 24/7/365? And above my bed.

Holidays are coming, holidays are coming… Lalalala. Have a nice summer, okay?.
