8x why you should watch The Bodyguard NOW
I started on the plane while taxiing. Not perhaps the best location to watch a narrowly averted bombing, but I was completely into it. So much so that I'm almost bummed that I have a dinner tonight and can't eat through it. last episode The Bodyguard, I am completely captivated.
1. The direction
It is so wonderfully directed. Most series use suspense; as a viewer, you see more or earlier something than the main characters. With The Bodyguard, that's not the case. The camera often pans to something and you see that the main character sees it, but you just don't see it, although you see enough to understand it. It makes it very vivid and exciting.
2. The sex scenes
They are so different. So refined. That first kiss. You have to see it, but it's insane.
3. Empowered
Women with corner offices. The head of police is a woman, the minister of the interior is a woman, the colleague of the bodyguard is a woman. And it's not mentioned. Because it's normal.
4. Multiracial
Dark-skinned people are not typecast. An Indian detective, an African-American investigator. Because it's normal.
5. No music
The Bodyguard does not use music to create suspense. They don't need it at all.
6. Age
Hooray. Another older woman who is allowed to have sex.
7. The storyline
So clever and exciting and current.
8. But only six episodes
Also nice sometimes. A manageable amount. Although I've heard that there is a season 2 coming and I'm actually looking forward to that.
