Being lazy is good for your health
Do you prefer to lie flat on the couch all Sunday? Laid up in bed? Do you order breakfast, lunch, and dinner and find walking to the door for the delivery person a hassle?
No worries, because being lazy is good for you. Researchers from The University of Kansas have looked at fossils of people from thousands of years ago. They checked how these people lived and what turns out? People who used less energy on an average day would live longer. Of course, a daily rhythm is good, but honestly: every now and then a weekend with nothing on the agenda is incredibly smart.
More benefits? You have less stress and that is good for pretty much your whole body. You are more rested, kinder, happier, and even wounds heal faster when you take it easy. Wounds during a vacation would heal 40 percent faster than the same wounds during your final exams. And especially in this time, when we always think we have to do something. Earn money. Get your house in order. Seeing a friend. A whole Sunday with nothing and no one to see, that can't be done. Right? Who actually decides that? Just do it and don't worry. A little lounging around really can't hurt and is even wise, every now and then. Always being busy is only detrimental. You can actually be really useful when you take those moments for yourself.
How do you approach it without guilt? Tell yourself that you want to watch eighteen series today and that tomorrow you will work passionately on your career for nine hours. Reward yourself, so to speak. You can do this now because you do that for the rest of the week. All that other stuff that you always do and have to do for yourself. Really works.
Binge-watching is so nice, right? You're welcome.
