5 steps to go out without makeup
By now it is the talk of the town: ‘Have you been inside yet?’ ‘Did you hear that so-and-so was denied?’ ‘You feel completely transported abroad!’ I'm of course talking about the brand new Soho House Amsterdam. And all the rumors are true: the criteria to be admitted to this exclusive members club are quite strict, all the spaces look fantastic (including an über-cool rooftop with heated pool) and it really feels like you’ve been transported abroad. Thanks to the no phone policy, there are hardly any photos to be found on social media and that makes this place even cooler: no panicky selfie-takers or loud phone conversations around you. If you know ‘one of the lucky few’ who have access to this place, make sure to get on the list as a ‘plus one’ ASAP.
’In the morning I can easily go out without makeup, but my application ritual is never skipped or forgotten. I always start with a nice cleansing (even in the morning) and then I apply a serum, eye cream, and day cream. As soon as my supply runs out, I test new creams and love to delve into the backstory. When I received this beautiful limited edition set from La Mer, I was immediately curious about where the sea theme comes from. The Miracle Broth contained in the Crème de la Mer consists of a blend of sea ingredients, including Sea Kelp. This stuff provides an extra energy boost and natural glow: two things I can really use every morning. Since this week, I dare to go out even more often without makeup, with that healthy, ‘natural’ glow on my face.
Every mother will undoubtedly say this, but I am so in love with my own child! Everything he does I find genius and he gets sweeter and cuter by the day. He has a brilliant new feature this week: dancing in circles around his own axis and bouncing to the rhythm of the music (something that some adults still struggle with). Jon and I are already betting on whether he will become a guitarist or pianist in the band. I will definitely be at the front at every gig, like one of those hysterical mothers with fan shirts and banners (minus throwing panties, that would really be going too far).
This is a friendly yet urgent call to everyone who has never visited the beautiful Concertgebouw in Amsterdam: change this as soon as possible! Last Sunday, Jon and I enjoyed a beautiful Stravinsky concert and what this does to your mind is incredible. When you walk into the hall, you momentarily forget the outside world and you immediately drift away upon hearing the first notes. Music can touch me like no other medium. Completely purified, we walked outside, concluding that a monthly visit is actually a must for your creative and musical spirit.
