Dotan shows signs of life: four months after the trolling fiasco

Singer Dotan has made his voice heard. And that must not have been easy for him. He was quite under fire after it became known that he had boosted his career with the help of fake trolls. Or rather, trolls... Fake people. Robots. After four months, he has broken the silence. He is active on Twitter again and posts a photo of a black guitar. He adds a black heart as an explanation. What that exactly means and what this photo entails for Dotan himself is not entirely clear. Fans think he is coming back with new music – or that he is really depressed and won't be back for a long time. Who is right will be revealed in time.

In April, it became known that Dotan and his team had invented various accounts to present him in a positive light. For example, a meeting with a disabled superfan never took place, while Dotan previously received all the praise for it. And what also turned out to be fabricated: that Dotan sat next to someone on the plane who was listening to his music, while they did not recognize him. That story was widely reported in the media. Everyone enjoyed the funny joke. But it turned out to be untrue, as discovered by the Volkskrant. While we all believed it. Phew.

Whether Dotan will ever make new music again is not yet known. He has not informed anyone about it at all. Even his mother has not been able to contact him for months. Mother Patty tells the AD: “I want to hold him because my child must be sad. Moreover, he has publicly apologized. Nevertheless, people continue to call him the absolute worst. Ridiculous. He hasn't committed murder.’

Still, she thinks what he has done is not smart: sticking his head in the sand and ignoring everyone. “He is an adult man who should gradually be able to make good choices in his life and career. Unfortunately, he hasn't done that recently. After all the commotion, I would have advised him to flee.” Who knows, after his tweet today, he might let his mother know something again. We hope so.
