For all Expeditie Robinson fans: at this location in the Netherlands, you can play it yourself
Of course, we've all thought about it at some point: what if I were on such an island? What if I had to do a challenge? Am I a team player or a little rat constantly causing trouble and plotting? Would I get far? And are you more of a cook, a fisherman, a shelter builder, or a lazybones?
Are you also ready every Thursday for our favorite program and have you always wanted to experience such an adventure on an island? Then I have good news. The whole concept is no longer out of reach; you don't even have to leave the Netherlands for it. On the beaches of Scheveningen, Kijkduin, and Hoek van Holland, you can really spend a day pretending to be a participant in Expeditie Robinson.
And okay, okay, it may not be the official version of the RTL program (so no world fame for you, huh, shit), but the concept is the same: surviving on an island with a group. Including the Island Council. An event agency in The Hague saw the success of the program and thought: hey, that's a gap in the market. And so they created a program that resembles Expeditie Robinson, focusing on team building, survival instinct, and creativity.
The fun part is: they really made an effort to make it look a bit like the Philippines. White beaches, coconuts, little palm trees planted; the whole shebang. You arrive with your group of friends (or colleagues, are you hearing me?) and the program immediately starts with making team flags. After that, the expedition really begins on the different ‘islands’.
The idea is to actually compete in challenges against each other (think of gigantic wooden constructions, puzzles, a water challenge, and the iconic balance beam), so you can bet that your most competitive self will pop up. At the Island Council, you don't vote against someone, but for someone, and those votes are important for the end of the day. Then the jury chooses the Robinson of the day. Sounds too fun, right? I thought so. So, colleagues, new team outing in the making? I vote for it!
