Help, my colleagues have colds
(and I don't yet)
The past few days it has been raining Kleenex in my house Kleenex, is the good old Vicks the new home scent and are more paracetamols being taken than anything else. My housemate has a runny nose and I'm waiting for the moment it drips out of my nose. Are you walking around the office among sniffling colleagues or is your loved one at home dying of a cold? Here’s what you can do to keep that runny nose at bay.
1. Wash your hands
Wash your hands as often as possible. And I don't mean quickly. Wash your hands for at least twenty seconds and don't forget the spots between your fingers, under your rings, and under your nails, and use hand soap. A disinfectant gel is always nice to carry in your bag.
2. Don’t touch it
Think about how often you touch your face in a day after just closing the door behind you or touching your keyboard. All breeding grounds for germs and bacteria. So try to rub your dirty hands on your face as little as possible.
3. Resistance
Take your vitamins, get enough sleep, dress warmly, and exercise. All important to keep your resistance up. And if you still don't feel completely fit, be proactive about it. A cup of hot water with fresh lemon, honey, and a paracetamol works wonders.
4. Disinfect
Clean your desk, laptop, mouse, and last but not least your phone every day. Especially if there’s a lot of sniffling going on at your office.
5. Don’t share
Guard your food and drink for your life. Don’t share your cutlery and don’t let your colleague accidentally eat from that last doughnut on the plate.
