Names that sound like weather forecasts, millions of hearts on social media, and trucks full of Dior baby outfits. Team Kim & Kanye:
North ‘Nori’ West (2013)
The very first daughter of Team Kim/Kanye ‘broke’ the internet perhaps even more than mom's oiled butt. Karl Lagerfeld photographed her in Chanel, she had that Vogue cover in the bag at just ten months old, and the fact that she has over two (!) million dollars worth of designer clothes hanging in her closet makes you question your own life. North has little Louis Vuitton bags dangling from her arms, is praised by Riccardo Tisci and Alexander Wang, and wears half-carat (50,000 dollar) earrings in her tiny ears on red carpets. On her birthday, a ‘Kidchella festival’ was organized without any problem. It seems clear to me: North is the Queen B. when it comes to the Kardashian kids.
Saint West (2015)
While many had bet their money on South or East West, the middle child of Kim and Kanye West was given the name Saint. Why? Insiders are sure that the name refers to the way Kim became pregnant. It didn’t happen without, um, struggle, and when it finally did work out, it could only be a sign ‘from above’. While Kim shared countless photos of North, she has been much more cautious with photos of Saint after his birth. Reportedly, Kim and Kanye were offered around two million dollars for the first baby photo, but they did not take it. By now, Saint can be seen here and there in the press (of course with a Yeezy sneaker from dad's line) at his feet. According to Kim, North was not really enthusiastic about the arrival of her brother. ‘She does not like her brother and it’s so hard for me,’ she said in several interviews. ‘She would get so jealous when I would breastfeed and all that kind of stuff, and now, the phase isn’t going away.’
Chicago ‘Chi’ West (2017)
Due to complications during her previous pregnancies, doctors advised Kim not to get pregnant again. The solution: a surrogate mother. Cost? 45 thousand dollars. Sounds like a bargain when you spend over 32,000 euros on a Dolce & Gabbana crib. The big question, of course, was which name would be chosen this time. Chicago it was, named after the city where West grew up as a child.
Kim immediately went all the way with her daughter. Five weeks after the birth, she shared the first Instagram snapshot of Chicago (nickname Chi). And as we expected, it happened completely in style: with a filter including animal ears.
