Fire and Fury

The most delicious Trump revelations

For my daily dose of humor, you can generally find me on the Twitter account of the American president. Yes, I mainly write this kind of pieces when it comes to Trump, but that doesn't mean I didn't delve into the elections when they took place in America in 2016. I still try to stay updated on everything that's going on in the United States. When you grow up in American schools (even if it's not in America itself), where at least eighty percent of the students have the nationality and had to recite the ‘I pledge my allegiance to the flag of the United States’ mantra every morning for several years, American history was one of your best subjects in school, you follow everything closely; everything that happens in the American Congress to all the bullshit that Trump posts on his Twitter. By the way, I am absolutely not saying that I am an expert, far from it, but it never hurts to try and stay up to date.

Anyway, what I actually want to get to is the book that will be released on January 9 by journalist and author Michael Wolff called ‘Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House’. Donald is not amused and is trying to prevent its publication because this book is based on two hundred conversations that Michael had with the president's top staff. The main revelations made are as follows:

1. Trump was stunned by his victory

And not just Trump, I think the rest of the world was too. Even Trump's campaign advisors never saw this coming and therefore never accounted for a possible victory. Trump's own son Donald Jr. even indicated that it seemed like his father had seen a ghost when it became clear that he would be the successor to Obama. Wife Melania burst into tears because this meant for her that she had to give up her life in New York for Washington, something she absolutely did not want, and campaign chairman Steve Bannon indicated that Trump went from dumbfounded to extremely shocked in less than an hour.

2. Trump had to get used to the White House

Logically, when you suddenly have to trade your luxury penthouse (worth 85 million) in the Big Apple for the most famous house in the United States where your house is full of staff. In the first months, Trump even seemed to have a lot of trouble with the staff that did his laundry, causing him to decide like a small child to throw his clothes on the floor. The staff was not allowed to touch personal belongings and Wolff also reports that Melania and Donald have separate bedrooms.

3. Trump reads little and lacks focus

If you have followed all the debates, this does not come as a surprise; Trump has always had difficulty describing his future plans for the country. Wolff spoke with Katie Walsh, deputy chief of staff, and the following came out: ‘He does not process information in a normal way. He does not read. He doesn't even skim through pieces. Some believe he is a semi-illiterate. He relies on his own knowledge, on his gut feeling about what he should do. He is very sure of himself.’ It is also notable that there are high advisors, who are not named in the book, who have called the president an ‘idiot’ and a ‘fool’.

4. Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch called Trump a ‘dumb idiot’

Fellow billionaire Rupert had a phone call with the president a month after Trump's big win regarding a delegation he had received from tech companies in Silicon Valley. Trump himself had raised that he thought the conversation went very well and that they really needed his help after Obama had made a ‘mess’ of it. Apparently, Murdoch had a very different feeling about the conversation and the only thing he could say about the president was that he was a ‘dumb idiot’.

5. Trump was angry on inauguration day

Trump was not enjoyable on the most important day of his career. Why? According to insiders because there were too few big stars present, he had a fight with Melania, and he thought that his accommodation in Blair House, his residence before moving into the White House, was not good enough.

In short, all of this but much more detailed, including all the strange sexual habits, if you want to know, will be released this week in America and by the end of the month the book will be available in the Netherlands. Looking forward to it.
