Sarah Jessica Parker denies SATC catfight
It remains a fuss, the bickering between Sex and the City colleagues Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker. Now I can cheerfully pretend that it doesn't bother me at all, but honesty compels me to say: it intrigues me. There was a commotion about a third film (which officially will never happen, we know now) and then there was the Insta-fight. Time for round 3. Where do we stand now? According to Sarah Jessica Parker, there is absolutely nothing going on between the two. A case of make that the cat wies.
“There is no catfight. There has never been a catfight,” says Sarah Jessica in an interview with Vulture. “There were four women on that set and I spent equal time with everyone. So this was not a set with two women who couldn't get along.” She continues: “I have always greatly appreciated Kim as a person and her work. If she chooses not to want to participate in a third film, then I can't do much to change her mind and we have to respect that. That's the only thing I've ever said about it.”
It all started when SJP indicated that she found it ‘unfortunate’ that Kim did not want to participate in a third SATC film. Then Kim stated in a British talk show that Sarah could have reacted ‘nicer’ in her opinion. She also said: “I have never understood what her problem was.” After that, things went wrong. Kim shared posts on Instagram about her missing brother, after which SJP expressed support via social media. This upset Kim (who claims to have been excluded on set for years) greatly. “Your persistent messages are a painful reminder of how cruel you were and are. Let me be very clear: you are not family and you are not my friend.”
It now seems that SJP wants to mend things. Chic, just as you would expect from her. “We have spent 10.12 years of our lives together and created something that I truly loved. I feel privileged to be a part of this and I don't want it to darken or change the experience for the audience.”
Do I hear a cautious apology here? Kim, come on, SJP is almost on her knees. Time to pick up that phone to chat about a few things? Seems like a good idea.
