So many babies are conceived during Christmas and New Year's Eve
Amid all the Christmas trees and New Year's toasts, it turns out we really enjoy it. Because let's be honest: we tend to get busy between Christmas and New Year's.
In fact, surprisingly many babies are born in September. Every year again, worldwide. And, you math wizards, that is exactly nine months after the holidays. How does that happen? It has been researched. It turns out we not only have quite a bit of time and desire in the holiday season, we are also extra fertile. Men produce sperm of better quality in winter, and the fact that it gets dark so early means couples have more time during the day to jump into bed.
It turns out that nine out of ten days in the year when the most people have birthdays are all in September. September 24 is the ultimate day, if you really want to know: that's when the most people celebrate their birthdays, followed by September 19. On the other hand, there are very few people – relatively speaking – who have their birthday on December 25. And also on January 1. Makes sense, because most people would rather not give birth on Christmas Day. Plus: many doctors are also off then. So every baby that can wait stays nicely in the belly. Besides September, August and October are also popular months for births. Exactly, everything that is conceived around the holidays. In August, 15,565 babies were born. In comparison: in February and April, there were ‘only’ 13,273 and 13,250.
So if you still have a desire for children in 2019, make sure to take your chance this December month. And wake your man up nice and early on Christmas morning. Or on January 1. Because most babies are conceived during morning sex, it turns out. You are more fertile then than late in the evening, especially if you had alcohol late at night. Look, that's how you can effectively start the year. And then you might enjoy all those September birthdays.
