If possible, I would prefer to hang out at a beach tent twenty-four-seven. I love everything on and around the water. Also sand, by the way, I can even tolerate it when it rubs in places you don't want. Beach tents are good at making cocktails, I at drinking cocktails. You get such a nomadic feeling from it. And even if you get blown away by a force eight wind (as my grandfather always says), it's still beautiful there. Location: Scheveningen
Where Lil likes to scoop the foam from the cappuccinos and indulges in an alcoholic snack with a side snack. You sink into one of the Chesters or settle down on a Pippi Longstocking chair. The kitchen is fusion, so you eat a tasty Tuna Tanaki, have breakfast with an acai bowl, and snack from the wooden board.
Heartbreak Hotel
Location: Oosterend, Terschelling
You can't stay overnight in the beach tent, but you want to live there for the rest of the day. The Heartbreak Hotel in Terschelling sounds very 1950s and that's exactly what it is. With Johnny Cash, Chuck, or Elvis from the jukebox and a June Carter on your plate. You'd almost start wearing a flouncy skirt and polka dots.
Barbarossa aan het Zwarte Pad
Location: Scheveningen
Whether you want to swing in the egg chair or maybe lie down on a bed; at Barbarossa, it can be done. Another nice address from Lilian's repertoire. If I ever have a garden or a beach, it should look like this. Beachy, cool, but above all beautiful. And you can eat and drink there around the clock, I love that.
Strandpaviljoen Noord
Location: Bergen aan Zee
Where everything is white, with an occasional stray tree on the table, because it looks artistic. The pavilion is chic in its Bergs-Bergens way, but also very beachy. You enjoy something different than the standard frikandel. A truffle risotto, sole, or a vongole, for example.
Zeecafé Oostkapelle
Location: Just: Oostkapelle
Because it's just as cozy as it sounds, a café by the sea. Not high up, as they usually do in Zeeland, but with your feet in the sand. Glass of white in hand, and the grill on for a plate of prawns. If you're looking for me this weekend... This is where I'm going and never coming home. And honestly: Oostkapelle might have the most beautiful beach in Zeeland, don't tell anyone.
Branding Beach
Location: Noordwijk
A tip from our Annabelle, chilling with those cheeks at Branding in Noordwijk. And when it gets dusky, with those lights and you see the sky through the glass roof and take a sip of a nice gin and tonic... Then you get a very free, happy, and who knows, maybe bursting feeling of happiness from it. You've been warned.
