This is how you get that dream job at a fashion magazine

Working at a fashion magazine is a dream for many girls. I could say that in reality, not everything that glitters is gold and not everything that flows is Chanel, but... that is true. Every week, someone from our team goes abroad to nestle in a five-star hotel and be pampered by a beautiful brand. Take this week. Our Annabelle went to Milan for Disaronno, Kiki and Lil were picked up by a chauffeur and enjoyed a know-how-many-course dinner with unlimited champagne and slept in Parc Broekhuizen for Maison Moët, and I went to London with Hugo Boss to interview Jamie Dornan and Birgit Kos about their new campaign. I mean. And you don’t go home without a goodie bag filled with the beautiful products of the one who invited you. I haven't even mentioned that you always meet all kinds of nice people during such a trip.

At the office, a courier rings the bell four times a day to deliver a package with nice things, and we get to try the tastiest treats. And oh yes, you also really do get discounts at the brands you want to wear. Anyway. I understand that you want that job. So here are some tips on how to increase your chances of getting that job.

1. Dress the part

We really understand that you can’t buy a Chanel bag as a freshie, and you don’t have to. I would even find that way too easy. But dress original and inspiring. In a black dress with a dull pantyhose and a little pump, you won’t get very far, sorry.

2. Breathe your job in

Make sure you have a buzzing Insta account where you show that you have taste and are original.

  • You SPRAY a perfume. Don’t say ‘spray’.
  • It’s ‘perfume’ or ‘scent’, not ‘air’.
  • A perfume is in a bottle, not in a flask.
  •  You DYE your hair, you paint your wall.
  • You don’t talk about ‘expensive,’ something has a lot of value.
  • It’s Moschino and you pronounce it as Moskino, with a hard k.
  • It’s Ermesss, with a silent h and a hard s.

  • Be yourself and never arrogant.
