This is what we know so far about Kate Middleton's delivery...
In April, the British Kate Middleton will give birth to her third child. And if you think that England is sitting still until then, you are quite mistaken. Last Sunday, the duchess surprised the world with a visit to the outside world, clearly showing that everything is still calm in her belly. Kate appeared together with Prince William at an Easter service in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Public outings are usually announced well in advance, and there was even speculation that the baby was on the way. This was clearly not the case yet. But what can be said with certainty is that the birth and everything that comes with it is planned down to the last detail. Curious about what those final preparations look like? I have lined up the facts for you. This is how our British neighbors are getting ready for the royal birth of the year...
- The Duchess of Cambridge will not give birth at home this time, but in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London.
- The gate at the entrance is currently being painted, and fans are going wild because they are looking forward to the moment when Kate comes out with her third offspring in her arms.
- Kate will not just stay in a shabby little room. In fact, the ultra-luxury suite where she will stay is heavily guarded.
- That super luxurious hospital room would normally cost 7,783 euros per day for each day you stay in it.
- The luxury room in question has been empty since March, because you never know...
- The security checks the area regularly, and it is sealed with tape after each inspection. It is indeed a highly secured operation.
- Not only the room itself, but everything around it (even down to the crawl space) will be regularly checked for safety until the birth.
- As it stands now, the baby is expected to be born on April 23.
- At Kensington House, a baby team the size of a football team is ready, with Kate's mother Carole at the helm.
- From media plans to security and hospital appointments; there is a backup plan for everything. How many post-its will be used for that?
- Only five minutes before the arrival of the duchess will the hospital know that the lady is on her way. A tight schedule indeed.
- During the birth, grandma Carole will look after big brother George and sister Charlotte.
- When the baby finally sees the light of day, Buckingham Palace will officially announce the joyful news on a pamphlet for the palace.
- If all goes well, Kate will leave the hospital the same day to enjoy the first biscuits with sprinkles in her own bed at Kensington Palace on royal china.
And then I can only think: what will she wear for the photo moment with the whole family together? Just 14 more nights of sleep, if all goes well.
I’ll keep you posted!
