This is what we think of the song by Ronnie Flex and Famke Louise
As the loyal reader knows, I am at the forefront when my girl Famke releases a new song. You know Famke, that little, sweet rascal who reminds me of my wayward teenage years with jacket with fur collar. Who sprays Fernandez bottles empty in the Surinamese night shop with Sannie and storms weddings with AK-47 rifles while throwing up everywhere. Fun girl.
Anyway, that Famke. She went to visit Ronnie Flex when he was in rehab due to a little problem with weed. In a dark musical hole, they jammed the old-fashioned way, managers shook hands contentedly, and suddenly there it is: Fan. The latest track from the two. As we are used to from Famke, both the melody and the lyrics are surprisingly strong.
Here is room for autotune*
“Do your best and then you can meeeeee,
Because that’s not so easy...”
“No, I can’t play now, I’m not playing a gaaaame
y-y-yes I can change.”
Okay, that’s enough of the whiner. Because aside from this worn-out ‘On my Monnie’ repetition, I really think it’s a bizarrely nice little song. My brain cells are delightfully dying from the lyrics (B-Baby you’re going nowhere, otherwise I’ll go with you. I see you, you’re alone. And I’m alone too) and the beat is just one that makes me want to spontaneously dance on my desk this Friday afternoon. We still have to wait a bit for that ‘crazy’ music video, but it can only be Grand with a capital G. Ronnie seems to be riding a motorcycle and ‘someone’ is sitting on his handlebars. Are we getting a Kanye West Kim K. shot? Vroomvroom 2.0? Famke? I’m eagerly waiting.
Update: as if the devil is playing with it, the clip in question has just just JUST been put online. With the famous Kim/Kanye shot. HA, I knew it. Anyway, I would say: check it out yourself because there’s weird shit happening all over the place.
