This is why you feel so hungry all day after drinking alcohol
After a glass or five, six, I can really only think of one thing: the chicken nuggets from McDonald's. Of course, you dip them in McDonald's fries sauce.
I can also dream of a shawarma sandwich after that fourth glass of beer. With garlic sauce. Lots of garlic sauce. Yes, sorry, I can't make it sexier than it is. Alcohol makes us hungry. When we have a tomcat we're hungry all day long. That's scientifically proven. Research shows that women who drank a glass of vodka ate more chocolate cookies than women who didn't drink vodka but just got lemonade. Even if they thought they were drinking alcohol. In other words: after a real alcoholic treat, you snack more. Munch. Snack. And oh man, no pizza tastes as good as a pizza when you're tipsy. Or as the pizza when you're hungover, okay.
But you know what's strange? I never crave cherry tomatoes when I've been drinking. I'm also not exactly jumping at the chance for a slice of cucumber after a party. And who eats salads and quinoa with grilled vegetables at three in the morning? I still have to meet them. We all have a craving for unhealthy food when we've been drinking. There's a reason for that too. Alcohol significantly lowers your blood sugar levels because your body has to work hard to get the toxins from your wine and beers out. That's why you get a lower blood pressure. Your body craves fatty snacks and meals that are deliciously high in carbohydrates to raise that blood pressure again. Plus, you definitely don't feel like acids, which you often find in fruits, vegetables, or healthy juices, because your stomach is a bit off. You crave all sorts of unhealthy, fatty, and sweet snacks. Anything to get that hangover out. Not your fault, just give in.
By the way, there's a McDonald's in my street. I can't help that, it's fate, it had to be this way. The chicken 20 (those in the know know what I mean) is calling me. And yes, I'm already looking forward to the next hangover. And to the hangover after that.
