My god, her birthday is coming up soon. But what do you buy? My advice: the really good gifts are not in the material, but in the experience. Or do you really think she will remember that Zara dress forever? I didn't think so. Behold our personal favorites to give your girl a TOP birthday.
1. Forget the alpaca walk...
In Lemerlerveld in Overijssel, there is an alpaca farm where you can enjoy a high tea or lunch among the fluffy creatures. NEED THIS IN MY LIFE.
2. Cheese tasting
Buying a gift for a cheese lover? Easy. Just Google ‘Fromagerie Abraham Kef’. Really an institution in Amsterdam. For 35 euros per person, you do a cheese tasting that is so next level (really not normal delicious different cheeses) that you go home drunk from the cheese (okay, and from the wine). I received it as a gift recently and thought it was really very cool.
3. Indoor skydiving
Sounds like something super spectacular and expensive, but I recently found out that this is not that pricey at all. You can do it from 55 euros per person?! In Roosendaal or in Utrecht (and it's not that scary, kids do it all day long in such a wind tunnel).
4. Laughing together at Kaj Gorgels
An evening chicly going to the De La Mar theater with guaranteed bellyache. YouTuber and presenter Kaj Gorgels has his first one-man theater show about what you should do with yourself when you're in your late twenties. Why do we do this so little, people?
5. Or together to Toomler
Our Lotte has had it once as a birthday gift and thought it was completely awesome. The idea is simple: Toomler is a theater café in Amsterdam where one comedian after another joins for a mini-performance. Think of big names like Najib Amhali and Soundos El Ahmadi. Love it.
6. The not-so-standard overnight stay
Look for a hotel that surprises. Did you know you can sleep in a crane in Amsterdam-Noord? And that a plane suite exists? And that you have plastic bubbles in the Ardennes with a view of the stars? Look for a truly special overnight stay and believe me: she will always carry the memory with her.
