Body & Mind

We all experience it sometimes

Enormous cravings for things we actually know aren't that healthy

We almost all deal with it daily. Just after finishing that triple sandwich with cheese and alfalfa, you dive into that bag of M&M’s from your colleague. And if it’s not the M&M’s, there’s probably a half-open pack of biscuits in sight. Of course, it's okay to indulge every now and then, but sometimes during such a snack attack, you can also wonder where the misery comes from. And I'm not even talking about our monthly period. Sometimes it's your body's way of making it clear that you're missing something. This is what your binge eating says about you body.

Chips, nuts, salty snacks

What you’re missing: hydration

What you need to do: drink more, and don’t reach for that bottle of Chardonnay in the fridge. Fill that kettle more often or take an extra bottle of water with you.

Ice cream, cream cake, and other sweet desserts

What you’re missing: healthy fats

What you need to do: eat fatty fish more often or grab a handful of unsalted nuts.

Candy

What you’re missing: energy

What you need to do: skip that bag of gummy candies and opt for a slightly healthier snack. A bowl of yogurt or a handful of nuts will fill you up faster and give you energy.

Chocolate

What you’re missing: magnesium

What you need to do: if you do want to go for that chocolate, break off a corner of 70% chocolate.

Carbohydrates

What you’re missing: serotonin

What you need to do: when we reach for that extra slice of bread or a handful of M&M’s, it often says something about our hormones. Take a walk outside or do something else that makes you happy.
