When you feel that you are ready for a new job
At my previous employer, I could stare at the clock for hours. The day. Went. Sometimes. So. Slowly. And actually, I just didn't enjoy the work at all. It took me a while to realize that. You don't just quit your job overnight. Do you ever feel like you're standing still in life? Do you get a nervous feeling on Sunday evening at the thought of having to go back to work the next day? Then it might be time for the career switch. Are you sure? Take the test.
You no longer go to work with pleasure
Grumpy days not counted, we all have those sometimes. But do you feel a mweh feeling weekly? A kind of underlying reluctance simmering in your gut that you can't push away? Then seriously ask yourself if you still feel at home in your job.
You feel like you've done everything
Three times even. There aren't really any growth opportunities anymore.
Appreciation is hard to find
You can't really remember the last time your employer gave you a compliment. But phew, if something goes wrong once, you'll definitely know.
Your private life is going down the drain
All those ridiculously long days might have been interesting for you as a young pup, but in the meantime, the situation has changed. Telling your loved one every evening that you'll be home later ‘because of overtime’ isn't really fun either. Hey, your private life has changed and that's perfectly fine. Maybe it just doesn't work well anymore with all those overtime hours.
You're not getting along with your colleagues at all
In fact: there is a continuous unpleasant atmosphere. And you've tried to get over it, but the irritation is becoming too great. Look, you don't have to become besties, but if you keep clashing with your employer or colleague, you might want to ask yourself if you'd feel much better in a place without all that negativity.
The company no longer fits you
Jobs evolve, people come and go. This can lead to the situation where the company and you grow apart and the noses no longer point in the same direction. And hey, that's okay.
Answered three or more questions with yes? Then there's no stopping you, girlfriend. See your job as that sibling relationship. You still have a good time together, but the flames are gone. Time for a new challenge.
P.S.: Yes, quitting is super scary and exciting, but it's for a good cause, remember? May explains it to you here perfectly how to quit your job best.
