You really can't post this on Instagram in June 2018 anymore
If one more person posts a tiny little photo of a breakfast in some trendy bowl, I'm going to lose it.
And all that sorted food neatly laid out in strips next to each other, preferably with a raspberry and a berry carefully plopped next to the bowl: stop it. It can't go on. It's happened, it's passé. Sure, occasionally showing the world what you're eating or have cooked: totally fine. But you can also throw that into your 17 different group chats with a little photo. The carefully arranged plates of food – like we would never actually eat a bowl of oatmeal with yogurt and chia seeds – are quite outdated by now. From June this year, it can't happen anymore, just so you know. Take a charming photo of your snoring husband, the rain, or a puddle of water in your sink that is clogged: look, then you'll really surprise your followers. And who knows, you might even gain followers with that humor.
Do you know what's trendy again? Stories. A whopping 250 million people watch Stories on Instagram every day. Uh, do you know how many that is? That's almost 15 times as many people as live in our entire country. So if you want some tips and tricks for those extra followers but still want to keep up with the times? Here’s the golden list. You might soon get a free vacation in exchange for one post, you never know, you never know.
- So stop sorting that food and throwing it in a bowl. Thanks.
- Make a lot of Stories. Every day. Five times, who cares. It's cooler than cool now.
- Also use GIFs in there – they always score well. Always.
- Use hashtags. Yes, they might be a bit outdated, but they still work. If you post with a hashtag, the chance of more engagement from your followers is a whopping 12.6 percent. That's quite valuable.
- Post at two in the morning or at five in the afternoon, that's what the experts say. Those are (globally speaking) the best times.
